Battery Habersham

One of six battery areas of Fort Screven constructed between 1897 and 1900 as coastal fortification for the Spanish-American War. Battery Habersham is "M"-shaped, containing eight twelve-inch mortars. During WWII, Habersham was changed to mount anti-aircraft guns with two observation towers for fire-control officers.
