Chocolate Plantation

Chocolate Plantation was built around 1819 and named after a Guale Indian village on the island named Chucalate. In the plantation ruins, the slave tabby constructed by Swarbreck in 1819 still exists today. The walls of the tabby were made from a cement-like mixture composed of sand, water, and burnt oyster shells.
