CSS Georgia Shipwreck

CSS Georgia, also known as State of Georgia and Ladies' Ram, was an ironclad warship built in Savannah. The Ladies' Gunboat Association raised $115,000 for her construction to defend the port city of Savannah. Set to protect the river channels below Svannnah. However, upon Sherman's arrival she was scuttled to prevent capture. The ironclad has only been partially recovered. This site is on the National Register of Historical Places.
