Du Bignon Creek
Du Bignon Creek is in the northwestern section of Jekyll Island and named after Le Sieur Christophe Anne Poulain DuBignon (1739-1825). DuBignon was a French naval captain who exchanged his portion of Sapelo Island for land on Jekyll Island in 1794. He later owned the entire island by 1800, and the island remained in his family for four generations until 1886.
