Greyfield Inn
Greyfield Inn is the only hotel on Cumberland Island and is an estate with a Colonial Revival-style home. The architects of Greyfield were Colbert A. MacClure and Albert H. Spahr. It took its name from John W. Gray, who was a planter from Jekyll Island and owned a 500-acre tract in 1825. In 2003, Greyfield was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Greyfield is also on the list of Historic Hotels in America. It was opened to the public as a hotel in 1962. This house was built between 1901 and 1905 for the couple Margaret Carnegie Ricketson and Oliver Ricketson. The Ricketson's daughter Lucy Carnegie Ferguson lived in this house for over seventy years. The Carnegie family still owns the building and manages Greyfield Inn. This site is on the National Register of Historical Places.
