Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation
A former plantation on the Altamaha River which operated as a forced-labor farm until 1865. The plantation produced rice from 1800 until 1915 when it was deemed no longer profitable. It was then converted to a dairy farm which shuttered in 1942. Beginning in 1976, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources managed the property as the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site. This site is in the National Register of Historic Places.
