Lovely Lane Chapel (Side 2)
Built by Norman W. Dodge in 1880 as St. James Union Church, the chapel is the oldest church building on St. Simons Island. It was repaired after an 1897 hurricane, deconsecrated in 1911, and later used as a recreation center. Purchased by the Methodists in 1949 and restored under Bishop Arthur J. Moore, it was renamed Lovely Lane Chapel after the 1784 founding site of American Methodism. Known for its magnificent, irreplaceable Old English Art Glass windows, it is now a cherished venue for worship, weddings, baptisms, and prayer.
