Lutheran Church of the Ascension

In 1771, the present site of the church was purchased. In 1790, its charter was granted by Governor Edward Telfair. Its first full-time pastor was called in 1828 and organized its Sunday school in the same year. Due to a growing congregation in the mid-1870s, they remodeled and enlarged the church. On April 14, 2016, the church celebrated its 275th anniversary and completed major renovations to the sanctuary building in 2019.
