Massie Common School House

Mid-19th century school building named after Georgia planter Peter Massie, who bequested funds for its construction. With the exception of a brief period following the Civil War, the school was attended by White students. It also served as a hospital for General Sherman's troops. This site is on the National Register of Historical Places.
