Monterey Square

Historic square in Savannah dating to 1847. The name is a reference to the United States' capture of Monterey, California, during the Mexican American war, which occurred a year before the square's dedication. Several historic buildings surround the site, including the Mercer Williams House and Temple Mickve Israel.
