Mulberry Grove

Site of former rice and cotton plantation now listed in the National Register of Historic Places. General Nathanael Greene was given the plantation after his victory in the Revolution. It is also the birthplace of the cotton gin, invented in 1793 by Eli Whitney. In 1864, Mulberry Plantation was destroyed by General Sherman’s army.
