Nicholsonville Baptist Church
Historic Baptist church along the Vernon River. It was founded in 1850 by enslaved individuals heralding from a plantation on St. Catherine's Island. The worship space was central to the community long before a physical structure was constructed in 1870. In 1878, John Nicholson bought 200 acres of land with the church on one of those acres. It was previously named Nicholsonboro Baptist Church and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
