Pipe Makers Canal
Originally derived from Pipemakers Creek, the canal was constructed between the 19th and 20th centuries to facilitate drainage for rice cultivation and later expanded to support urbanization efforts in the area. In 2006, recognizing the need to enhance the canal's capacity and accessibility for maintenance, Chatham County initiated a series of improvement projects to widen the canal and construct access roads along its banks, ensuring it could handle significant storm events and reduce flood risks for surrounding communities.
