Placentia Canal

Placentia Canal was constructed between 1877 and 1887. The canal was developed in response to the yellow fever epidemic of 1876, aiming to improve drainage and reduce mosquito breeding grounds in the area. It traverses or is situated near the former Placentia Plantation, situated on the eastern outskirts of Savannah and the western edge of Thunderbolt.
