Relict Dunes

These relict dunes on Sapelo Island near the back-shore areas, well away from the shoreline. The relict dunes show where the shore used to be. The dunes are particularly high so at the time the shoreline was here, there was a really good supply of sand. In the video, you can see a little trail that was created by deer tracks. These tracks show how the environment can shift back and forth through time and different animals will then occupy those environments through time.
