Sacred Heart Church

Catholic church established in 1880, though its present-day building was constructed in 1902. Early in its history, it served as a school for African-American children, then maintained a boys' high school at its new location on Bull Street until the 1990s. The church recently embarked on a restoration project to reclaim the old high school gym and surrounding property for parish activities.
