Saint Matthews Episcopal Church

Episcopal church established in 1943. Its congregation hailed from two other centers of worship: St. Stephen's Church, the first Black Episcopal church in Georgia, and St. Augustine's Church, a mission organization which doubled as a school for Black children, a gathering space for youth groups, and a tuberculosis clinic for Savannah locals.
