Savannah Fire Department Station 3 Headquarters

Headquarters for the Savannah Fire Department, constructed in 1854. Before and during the Civil War, enslaved African Americans made up some of the firefighting workforce, though they were displaced by an influx of White workers in the late 1800s. Advocacy from the NAACP eventually resulted in the department's reintegration in 1963.
