Washington Pump & Oak
Washington Pump is known as one of the first public water sources in St. Marys', Georgia. Six drinking wells were in each square until the last well was polluted from flooding. When George Washington passed away in 1799, local St. Marys' citizens held a memorial and planted four oak trees. "Washington Oaks" is the name of where these trees were planted. The last tree near the last working well was cut down in 1987 and was used for the USS Constitution restoration project,
