Wesley Chapel Trinity
The Methodist Church in Savannah formally started Wesley Chapel in 1812 on Lincoln and Oglethorpe Streets. The chapel is named after the Anglican minister John Wesley who led the Georgia colony from February 6, 1736 -until December 3, 1737. The church was reconstructed on Telfair Square in 1848. Since 1884, Welsey Chapel Trinity has been recognized as "The Mother Church of Savannah Methodism." Architecturally, Trinity Chapel is in the Greek revival style and resembles London's Wesley Church.
