William Scarbrough House

Built in 1819 in Gree Revival style it is one of the few surviving American works of William Jay. The house was built for William Scarbrough, one of the principal owners of the SS Savannah, which in 1819 became the first steamship in the world to cross the Atlantic Ocean. It is currently home to the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum. This site is on the National Register of Historical Places.
