Yamacraw Bluff

The land now occupied by Savannah was once home to the Yamacraw, a Native American tribe descended from the Lower Creek and Yamasee peoples. Many among the tribe were forcibly displaced not long after the arrival of James Oglethorpe and other colonists, who founded the Colony of Georgia at Yamacraw Bluff in 1733.
